Tim March
Saved 11.23.13
Dear Levi,
It was finally
time for Hunger Games 2. I’d been looking forward to this day and yet dreading
it at the same time. I was so anxious to see how the story unfolds, and so sad
because I saw it with you. I didn’t want to see it with anyone else. But Kendon
turned me down for opening night to go with Eric instead, so I ended up going
on Saturday with Tim March, my old Panera Buddy.
We went to
Penn Square, my first time at that theatre. It’s awesome, with huge fluffy
leather recliners. Of course there’s no way you’d ever go there while a
Heartland student, but maybe someday… someday…. If only there was a someday.
The movie was
great. It was phenominal. But the best part about the night? When Tim said to
me, “Hey can I ask you about something?”
And he
proceeded to tell me how much conviction he’d been in since he came to church
for Friend Day and heard the gospel and realized, he was completely sure of his
soul’s destiny.
And he let me
take him all the way through the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, talking
about the divine gospel of God and how it all works. And when the movie ended,
I kept witnessing to him all the way to our cars. And he drove home, assuring
me he’d think it over.
That night, I
didn’t have too much time to be sad about the movie because Tim texted me,
letting me know he’d confirmed his salvation and asked God to save him that
night.
After so many
years of witnessing to him at Panera and beyond, it made tears of joy flood my
eyes. What was the point of being here in the USA all alone? At least it had
some weight of eternal value. At least it meant that I was able to help lead
one soul to the Lord.
And I thought
of Dallas Hansen, whom Levi let to the Lord last year just after Friend Day.
And I hoped
that someday, Levi would find out about Tim and be proud of me.
I hope, I
pray, that someday somehow you would be proud of me again.
Your star,
Rigel
